One thing on Game of Thrones

mrs-jake-ryan:

This includes spoilers for the finale and for future books

Can I just say the one change from the books I absolutely hated (besides the lack of my One True Queen Sansa) in season two was Robb’s romance?

Okay, here’s the thing about Robb/Jeyne (in the books), he married her out of honor. He took her virginity, felt bad about it, and then married her. BOOM. I always thought (and feel free to disagree with me) that this was used to show how much like Ned Robb was. He thought more about honor than the bigger picture, and that’s what screwed him over in the end (his honor, Jeyne’s, believing in the Freys’ honor).

WHY did they change this??? Making his a TRU LUV story actually makes me less sympathetic to him. Why should he get to find his true love? Arya is still promised to a Frey son. As far he knows, Sansa is promised to Joffrey, their father’s murderer. Why should Robb get to marry for love? I understand wanting to make him have conflict (complete with his own Ye Olde Manic Pixie Dream Girl), but gotDAMN was it frustrating to watch his little tantrum about his marriage.  Plus, the way he talked to Catelyn was fucking ridiculous. He’s about to totally screw over an alliance, break a freaking oath, potentially screw things up for his siblings even more, and he still has lip for his mother? Pretty galling considering he stole most of her screen time this season.

Whatever Robb Stark. I love your glorious head of hair as much as the next girl, but you were a total douche nozzle this season.
